NOTAN welcomes Sarah and Julie to the Team

Sunday, August 27th, 2017

After our Chairman made an appeal for a Secretary at our Summer Grand Prix event in July 2017, two volunteers have stepped forward and offered their services to our organisation.

Sarah Atkinson, has recently taken voluntary retirement from an NHS Management position and has 15 years experience in administrative roles including Minute taking, business planning, and fundraising. At a meeting on 26th August 2017, Sarah agreed to become our Secretary.

Julie Pichler, is a Group Director (Claims), for The North of England P&I Association Limited, a leading marine mutual liability insurer providing Protecting and Indemnity (P&I) cover to shipowners and charterers worldwide. She has offered 2 -3 hours per week of her time and will initially be assisting Sarah with our business planning and fundraising.

NOTAN are grateful to both Sarah and Julie for volunteering their time and expertise.

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

On 15th August 2017, NOTAN received the much awaited response from the Charity Commission, who required more information prior to making a decision in regards to our application to become a registered charity.

Earlier today, that response was submitted to the Commission. I would like to thank our Trustees Daniel Bradley-Njai, Chris Mole, Bill Todd, and John Brettell for responding to my request for assistance in this matter.

I would also like to thank Elizabeth Grace, Development Manager, VODA, for her assistance.

NOTAN applied to become a registered charity on 18th May 2017. We expected to hear the result of this application in mid/end July, however as reported at our Management Committee Meeting on 29th July 2017, we still had not heard.

On Tuesday 8th August 2017, I contacted the Charity Commission’s helpline and was advised that they are currently dealing with May 2017 applications so we should receive news within the next two weeks.
