Cold Brew Events and High Fell Events improve safety of monthly Winter Handicap

Big shout out to Andy Clark, Barry Kemp, and Drew Swinburne from Cold Brew Events and High Fell Events, who have offered NOTAN, the use of 8 mobile halogen lighting systems, and other equipment FREE OF CHARGE, to assist in the safety of runners doing our monthly Winter Handicap.

Due to on-going works along Whitley Bay’s sea front the traditional route of the Winter Handicap event has witnessed a number of alterations in the last few months, and more may follow. The new/current route along the lower promenade means that only half of the 1200m stretch is lit. Thanks to Vaughan Hemy, Peter Atkinson and their army of volunteers (and their head torches) the event has continued despite these disruptions.

The support from Cold Brew Events and High Fell Events, best known for organising night-time fell races, will provide better levels of lighting along this stretch of the route and improved levels of safety for all concerned.

The Trustees of NOTAN, would also like to express our thanks to Gez Davison, for his assistance in this matter.
